Kalam's death anniversary observed

To commemorate the first death anniversary of former Indian President A P J Abdul Kalam, popularly known as people's president, many educational institutions paid homages to Kalam's portrait.

MADURAI: To commemorate the first death anniversary of former Indian President A P J Abdul Kalam, popularly known as people's president, many educational institutions paid homages to Kalam's portrait.
At the event held at Madurai Kamaraj University, M Thirumalai, former vice-chancellor of Tamil University, Thanjavore, was the chief guest.
He said that Kalam proved that the world can be united through love.
"He was a man known for his simplicity and lived for others. He spend most of his life days in a room measuring up to 100 square feet. He spent every minute of his life for the development of the country and scientific development. His life was an example for youngsters to follow," Thirumalai said.
"He never lost heart when his first attempts met failure. His model flight that was accepted first was abandoned later. His first missile fell down without flying. His technology to enable a flight to manoeuvre through a narrow passage also failed. But his sacrifice still attracts people even after his death," the former VC said.
To commemorate Kalam's death anniversary, the Manonmaniam Sundararanar University in Tirunelveli paid homages and conducted sports events.
Pandian Saraswathi Yadav Engineering College organised Kalam's death anniversary tribute at its college campus in Arasanoor. College principal V Dharmalingam garlanded Kalam's portrait. Managing director S P Varatharajan presided over the programme, carried out by the college's Rotary Club' president Prasanna, secretary Murali.

Kalasalingam university holds special seminar: A special seminar was conducted for MBA students at the Kalasalingam University in Krishnankoil in Virudhunagar district. Professors belonging to international fund and insurance from Ball State University delivered lecturers on how to handle finance position.
The university enables its students of every department to know technological development of a their respective fields. Accordingly, it invites faculty from foreign universities who in turn take classes for fifteen days and then test the students, the university said.
Kalasalingam university director Sasi Anand inaugurated the seminar in the presence of vice-chancellor S Saravana Sankar. Research development director Arumugam and Head of Department of MBA Sakthivel Rani were also present. Dr Ratin S Rathinasamy from the Ball State University, United States, took classes for the second year MBA students, the university said.
Special Lecture at Fathima college: A workshop on 'Introspection on Indian Economic Policies towards the Economic Development - a Global Perspective' was organised as part of the first activity of Economics Association, at the Fatima College recently. Srinivasan Raghavendran, from National University of Ireland, delivered the special lecture. Shobana Nelasco and student secretary Priyadharshini among others spoke.
'Learning disabilities should not hold you back': Learning disabilities will not hold one back if he or she works with the objective to win and achieve their goals this was the message given to the students of Chairman Manickavasagam Middle school in Devakottai, Sivaganga, by V Nandhakumar, joint commissioner of income tax. He told the students how dyslexia forced him dropping out of school in the sixth standard, but with sheer will power and determination he went to become the all India topper in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) exam.
TCE extends financial help to 130 students: The Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Thiruparankundram, celebrated its founder's day by providing scholarships to its 130 students studying in different disciplines. Chairman Karumuttu T Kannan said that the college is fulfilling founder Karumuttu Thiagaraja Chettiar's dream to impart education as charity. The management will not undertake education with commercial interests or exploit students in terms of money, he said.
