Boys in chains at madrasa; father, teacher in prison

Like most parents, 35-year-old Siraj Wahaab wanted his three sons (aged 10, 8 and 7) to study hard so they wouldn't have to endure the struggles he had to. Bijender (32), younger brother of gangster Anil Bhagte, was arrested on Monday along with one Meer Singh for killing the latter's business rival Surendra at Azadpur Mandi.
Like most parents, 35-year-old Siraj Wahaab wanted his three sons (aged 10, 8 and 7) to study hard so they wouldn't have to endure the struggles he had to. Unfortunately for him, all three wanted to come home as soon as they reached the madrasa in which they were studying. It was a daily battle to get them to study.
Frustrated over their refusal to study, Wahaab decided to scare them into toeing the proverbial line.
It was a decision that was to backfire catastrophically for him. Wahaab took up the matter of his sons' perceived delinquency with Mubarak Moulasaab, 25, the teacher at the madrasa. The teacher, a native of Arasikere in Hassan, lives on the Madrasa premises and decided to scare the brothers by giving them a 'mild punishment'.
Moulasaab took all the three brothers to a mosque at Parangipalya in HSR Layout and tied their legs using an iron chain. All three were kept under the mosque's staircase, next to the main entrance.
On Friday evening, HSR Layout police were tipped off about the inhuman behaviour perpetrated on the three minors.
"Following the information, a team of policemen in plain clothes was sent to the mosque to confirm the veracity of the information. After the policemen confirmed the news, a police sub-inspector in mufti went inside the mosque and released the boys from their chains. After recovering the chains and the locks, the policemen spoke to the boys and found out that they were brothers and were tied up by their teacher. The teacher was immediately taken into custody.Following the teacher's statements, Wahaab, the father of the three boys, was arrested," said an officer who is part of the investigations.

During the entire process, the policemen were in mufti, and the boys had no idea they were speaking to policemen. The boys were then sent to the state boys home on Hosur Road.
"Wahaab and the teacher have been booked under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, and will be punished for wrongful confine ment under section 342 of the Indian Penal Code. Both of them were arrested on the same day. The method Wahaab used -forcing his sons to study -is illegal. The teacher, on his part, should have orally scared the boys instead of illegally confining them by tying their legs with chains. It is not clear how long the three boys have been undergoing the punishment.
The incident came to light after a local saw the boys crying and reported the matter to us. In all likelihood the three brothers might be punished again by their father after his release. The case will be further heard by a court," the officer added.
