VADODARA: Library users of M S University can now avoid paying fine by returning the issued books on time. They will be getting timely notifications. Beginning from Tuesday, Hansa Mehta Library (HML) of MSU will initiate the process of updating its users by sending short messaging service (SMS).
The system has been introduced keeping in mind efficiency of the administrative work, said MSU librarian, Dr Mayank Trivedi.

"We are in the process of digitizing the working pattern of library. It has already begun with the online library registrations that kicked off last week," he said.
"As of now, the system will send notification to the users while issuing/returning of books, reminder message of last date of submitting and of fine charges. Soon, we will be updating the system and give efficient services to the users," said Trivedi. He added that earlier students would refuse to pay fines by giving excuses and could create confusion at the counter. The system will avoid such situations by maintaining a record.
Devika Gohil, a research scholar who visits HML on a regular basis said, "Many a times during work, I forget returning the books. Notification through messaging system will save time and money."
