Cops to set up control rooms at pushkar ghats

August 02, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:05 am IST - KURNOOL:

Inspector-General of Rayalaseema N. Sridhar Rao directed police officials on Monday to set up control rooms near the pushkar ghats and respond promptly to the grievances of pilgrims coming for the Krishna Pushkarams.

Addressing a review meeting in Kurnool with police officials in charge of the ghats, he told police officials and personnel to be vigilant and accord priority to the safety of pilgrims. He told the officials to arrange foolproof security to avert any untoward incidents during the Pushkarams. Keep watch on suspects and those moving around suspiciously, he told them and appealed to people to alert the police on such persons.

‘Carry Aadhaar cards’

All the pilgrims coming for pushkarams must carry their Aadhaar card, voter card or any other valid identity proof, Mr. Sridhar Rao said. He wanted streamlining of traffic and avoiding bottlenecks.

Police personnel should use public address systems to announce precautions at the bathing ghats, especially cautioning the aged and children to avoid going deep into the waters and keeping away from risky spots.
