Suva school returns with spoils in two divisions after strong competition from 15 rivals at Xavier College in Ba

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School took out the Year 10 and 13 titles of the National Mathematics competition. 15 schools took part in the competition held at Xavier College in Ba.

MGM principal, Bharti Singh, said: “It was a milestone achievement for the school and we were also in third place for the overall national winners.

“We have had huge progress since participating last year, students are revising their subject thoroughly as it was part of the syllabus.

“Students are continuing showing interest in mathematics at the same time they gain self-confidence.”

In addition, students were awarded with certificates and $25.

She said another science competition was scheduled for October for students which would be held at the University of the South Pacific.

Ms Singh said the school roll stood at 768 and students were preparing for exams.

“Teachers are working hard and we are constantly engaging with parents because we are hoping to maintain our 100 percent pass in examinations,” she said.
