VDCA annual awards given away

The Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association conducted its annual prize distribution function at the ACA-VDCA stadium here on Sunday. Vice-president of VDCA T.S.R. Prasad, who was chief guest, gave away the prizes and cash awards to winners and runners-up of different leagues and tournaments of VDCA held during the previous season.

The following received special awards: I Division: Best batsman M.S. Deepak Kumar (ECoRSA) 466 runs, best bowler P. Naga Raju (Galaxy CC) 19 wickets; II Division: Best batsman Ch. Jogesh (Victoria C.C.) 274 runs, best bowler P. Venkatapathi Raju (HPCL) 16 wickets; III Division: Best batsman G. Simhadri (Moon Stars C.C.) 462 runs, best bowler N. Aravind Kumar (Symond Blues) 15 wickets; IV Division: Best batsman M. Harikrishna (Graduates C.C.) 406 runs, best bowler M. Sudheer (Sports XI) 17 wickets; V Division: Best batsman Varun Krishna (Classic C.C.) 398 runs, best bowler K. Sunil Kumar 19 wickets.

General secretary in-charge S.S.R.K. Prasad and vice-president D.S. Varma gave the details of the tournament and leagues conducted during the season at various venues. Mr. Prasad thanked the ACA for getting Andhra its first Test match.

Following are the winner and runner-up of various divisions during 2015-16: I division: 1. East Coast Railway Sports Association, 2.Gajuwaka Greens. II Division: 1. Vizag Veterans, 2. Good Friends C.C.; III Division: 1. Ispat C.C., 2.Symond Blues; IV Division: 1. Royal C.C., 2. Jolly Rovers C.C.; V Division: 1.Hindustan Shipyard Recreation Club, 2. Classic C.C. Institutions: 1. Eastern Naval Command, 2. City Police.
