EEE association inaugurated

The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Association of K.L.N. College of Information Technology, Pottapalayam, was inaugurated on July 23 by R. Bharathidasan, Assistant General Manager, Sundaram Industries. He also delivered a talk on innovative projects and job opportunities in core industries for EEE engineers. J.S. Gnanasekaran, Principal, presided over the function.

Kamaraj remembered

The birth anniversary of former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj was celebrated at Madurai Sivakasi Nadars Pioneer Meenakshi Women’s College, Poovanthi, on July 15. S. Sharmila, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology, delivered a talk on the life of Kamaraj on the occasion.

Start-up Payanam

Pandian Saraswathi Yadav Engineering College, Arasanoor, organised a journey, ‘Start-up Payanam Madurai,’ for school and college students in a bus on July 9. The journey involved visit to start-ups and talk on real life entrepreneurial experience. The journey was inaugurated by S. P. Varadharajan, Managing Director. The first stop was Rainstock, a start-up which works on rainwater harvesting. K. Sakthivel, founder, shared his start-up story with students. Nirmal Raj of Buddies Café and Rajesh Kanna of VeClean spoke about their entrepreneurship journey. Saira Banu of Mahindra Tools in Women Industrial Park spoke about the real world’s challenges, strategies and problem solving for woman entrepreneurs. Archana Stalin of Buds and Ashweetha of Bodhi Tree Skills also shared their start-up stories.

Guru Poornima celebrated

Guru Poornima was celebrated at Swami Vivekananda Vidya Mandir, Madurai, with the objective of inculcating values and respect towards teachers. The programme was inaugurated by Govindaraj, Director. Principal V. Devasena welcomed the gathering. Kanchana Devi, Co-ordinator, spoke about ‘guru bakthi.’ Swami Vivekananda. Sagana of eighth standard delivered a talk on ‘Guru Poornima.’ Teachers presented a group song. Rengasamy, a retired government school Headmaster, was honoured on the occasion. All students got blessings from their teachers by offering flowers.

Toppers felicitated

Toppers in Plus Two public examinations were felicitated at a function organised at Sourashtra Higher Secondary School, Madurai, on July 18. Murugan Jayaraman, Paediatrician, gave away a cash award of Rs. 5000 to all students who had secured 1100 marks and Rs. 1000 who got 1000 marks and above in the public examination. M.N. Sankaran, president, Sourashtra High School Council, distributed prizes to the first three rank holders. The teachers who had produced cent per cent result in their respective subjects were also honoured. Sakthi Manian of Sakthi foundation offered Rs. 5000 and P.K. Mothilal of Elmo Engineering Works presented Rs. 2000 to the school topper G. Praveenkumar. A.R. Jagannath, correspondent, presided over the function. J.G. Gnanachandran, Headmaster, welcomed the gathering and V.K. Srinivasan, Assistant Headmaster, proposed a vote of thanks.

Contest winners get prizes

The birth anniversary of K. Kamaraj was celebrated on July 15 at Government High School, Melachurankudy, with a variety entertainment programme and competitions for students. Kamaraj Narpani Mandram presented prizes to winners of the competitions. Those who spoke at the celebration included Radhakrishnan, district president, Kamaraj Narpani Mandram, councillor Amaladas, Pasupati, Subash and Prabaharan. Headmistress Mercy proposed a vote of thanks.
