NEW DELHI: A man has been arrested for allegedly shooting a 24-year-old man in outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri.
On Saturday, the victim Nikhil had gone to attend the retirement party of his uncle.
The police said Nikhil was talking on his phone in the balcony when he was shot in the waist by the accused, Sandeep.
During interrogation, Sandeep told police that he had shot Nikhil by accident as he was firing in celebration.

Hearing the gun shot, family members rushed outside and saw Nikhil lying in a pool of blood. They informed the police, who took the man to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police say that no CCTV footage could be recovered. A senior police officer said this could be a case of personal rivalry as the accused had a criminal record in the past.
Celebratory firing is a common problem in the city. In April, a 17-year-old girl’s death in a celebratory firing at a wedding had led to a huge uproar.
