Motorcyclist run over by tanker after falling into pothole in south Delhi

Praveen Kumar (45) was riding a motorcycle, which fell into the big pothole near Square Mall on Mehrauli-Mahipalpur road and was ran over by the tanker (No. HR55 J 5318) at around 7.30 pm on Saturday.

A 45-year-old man was mowed down by a tanker on Saturday after his motorcycle fell into a rainwater-filled pothole in south Delhi's Vasant Kunj area, police said.

Praveen Kumar was riding a motorcycle, which fell into the big pothole near Square Mall on Mehrauli-Mahipalpur road and was ran over by the tanker (No. HR55 J 5318) at around 7.30 pm, a police official said.

The local police seized the vehicle but the driver managed to flee from spot.

Passersby rushed Praveen to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. His body was sent to AIIMS for autopsy.

South district DCP Nupur Prasad confirmed, "The body was sent to AIIMS for autopsy and a police team was deployed to arrest the accused."

The victim was a resident of Mohan Garden in west Delhi's Uttam Nagar area. At the time of incident, the deceased was going towards Mahipalpur on bike.

One eyewitness Ramashish said, "Pothole is responsible for this death. As it was flodded with water, nobody could judge the depth."
