KOLKATA: Danseuse Sanchita Bhattacharya, along with santoor player Pt Tarun Bhattacharya, expressed their solidarity towards Aabesh Dasgupta’s family. On Saturday, the couple walked the silent protest march to seek justice for Aabesh.
Said Sanchita, “I’m close to Aabesh’s grandmother. When I read about the case, the first thought that struck me was the initial silence of the children and the parents.
If it was a simple accident, why would all of them be so silent about the whole issue? What were they so scared of?” she asked.
The danseuse isn’t ready to buy the accident theory as yet. “If it was just an open-and-shut accident case, why have the police waited for so long to reveal everything? If it was just a fall that led to the mishap, why are the cops going about everything in such a convoluted fashion? Yet, I have not lost my faith in the system. I am sure that justice will prevail,” she said.
Sanchita also admitted that parenting is a big challenge that many are facing now. “We have started to preach a lot of things to youngsters. But do we follow what we preach? Unfortunately, we don’t do that. It’s high time that we set examples for our next generation,” she signed off.
