Large parts of Saurashtra experience showers on second consecutive day

Ahmedabad: Many districts of Saurashtra, waiting desperately for a fresh spell of rains for already sown Kharif crops, today received showers for the second consecutive day even as Khambaliya taluka of Devbhomi Dwarka district which was the top rain receiver with 207 mm downpour among the 140 talukas of 32 districts which experienced rains during last 24 hours today again recived over 30 mm while Jamjodhpur of Jamnagar got over four inches of rain.

The met department has not issued any heavy rains warning for the next few days but forecast light to moderate rain in almost all the 33 districts owing to the two cyclonic cirulations in the neighbourhood.

Vadodara was the only district which did not receive any rains during last 24 hours, many other districts of East Central Gujarat Zone including Kheda, Anand and Ahmedabad also received negligible rains. Ahmedabad with district average of only 2 mm got 10 mm rain only in Bavla taluka. Patan in North Gujarat was also among others which got negligible rains.

The mention-worhy rain receiver talukas apart from Khambaliya during last 24 hours were Palitana (70mm), Jesar (59) in Bhavnagar, Meghraj (86) and Modasa (59) in Aravalli and Kodinar (64) in Gir-Somnath. Today Rajkot, Jamanagar, Devbhomi Dwarka, Junagadh, Amreli registered some rains.
