Declared dead on property paper, man submits memo to prove he is alive

BHOPAL: Sarmanlal Gaur, a resident of Kelaras in Morena district, has been running from pillar to post trying to prove to the administration that he is alive. The matter was raised in the assembly on Friday by BJP MLA Satyapal Singh Shikharwar who claimed that Sarmanlal Gaur, son of Ramcharan, has submitted a memorandum to the district collector claiming he is alive while his property has been swindled claiming he is dead.
MLA Satyapal Singh Shikharwar sought punitive action against the tehsildar for the irregularity but revenue minister Uma Shankar Gupta said that since the property has been registered, the man will have to take the matter to court. Meanwhile, revenue department did not find any error on the part of department officials. In June 1971, Sarmanlal Gaur purchased a plot measuring 287 sq ft in Kelaras village. Rambharosi, a resident of Surjama village, was a witness of the land purchase. On October 23, 2015, Rambharosi again as witness helped the transfer of that plot to Hariram Gaur, son of Kashiram. It was claimed that Sarmanlal had sold the land to Hariram Gaur and died.
Based on the statement of Rambharosi, the transfer was done in the name of Hariram Gaur, claimed the BJP legislator. Now, Sarmanlal is making rounds of tehsildar's office and collector's office to prove he has been cheated.
