AHMEDABAD: Security and intelligence agencies of Gujarat have zeroed in on four Ahmedabad youths who had visited Saudi Arabia seven months back.
Based on an input from a central intelligence agency the youths, three of whom stay in the walled city and one in Juhapura, have been put under surveillance. They had allegedly met a top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, Abu, in Saudi Arabia.
A senior Gujarat police official said, “We suspect that the LeT commander hails from Pakistan.“
According to top city police officials they have questioned the four youths. “They have not revealed anything but we suspect that they might have been given so me specific directions or could be the part of a sleeper cell of the LeT,“ added a senior security agency official.
Top police officials said they are in touch with family members of the youths. “We are keeping a close watch on the activities of the four youths,“ said a city police official. “We are also scanning their social media accounts to verify the intelligence input we have got from the central agencies,“ added a senior police official.
Gujarat police has been on alert since several youths were arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for their alleged links with terror outfits like the ISIS.
“We are in touch with immigration authorities also to get details of such youths who have been abroad, especially to Gulf countries and have not returned,“ added a senior police official.
