Irrigation minister orders anti-breach measures

LAHORE - Punjab Irrigation Minister Mian Yawar Zaman yesterday visited Sialkot along with Secretary Irrigation Saif Anjum where they thoroughly visited nullah Dek, nullah Aik, M-link canal and monitored the measures taken by district administration.

Sialkot DCO Dr Tufail briefed the minister about the flood situation, saying that due to continuous rain for two days flow of water increased which became a hurdle in the way of local administration. “The issue has been solved, and now the flow of water is normal,” the DCO informed.

The provincial minister directed all the officers concerned to ensure patrolling of nullahs’ embankment round the clock to save the property and crops of public. He also directed the authorities to inform public about the flood situation. Zaman further said that all resources should be used on the top priority basis to secure public’s property and crops. He also directed the Irrigation department to stay alert.
