A couple of Nova Scotia newlyweds who were dreading the thunderstorms forecast for their wedding day ended up with a keepsake they cherish, thanks in part to the stormy weather.

About five minutes after Mustapha Maynard and Morgan Kaulback started posing for their wedding photos last weekend, it started to pour and they were forced to rush inside.

After the reception began, a guest announced that there was a double rainbow outside.

Seizing the opportunity photographer Mark Sawatzky got the couple to head back outside.

“I just kind of thought, if I wait here long enough I’m going to get some lighting strikes,” he said.

Sure enough, Sawatzky captured the bride and groom kissing underneath the double-rainbow, with two lightning bolts behind.

Kaulback said she and her husband love the photo, which is not unlike their love.

“It really is electrifying,” she said.
