Former defensive tackle and NFL Hall of Famer Warren Sapp bit off more than he could chew while lobster fishing in Florida when a shark chomped down on him.

Reports claim that the shark bit Sapp on the arm while competing for a lobster dinner. While his injury was minor, PETA has sent the athlete a delicious vegan lobster and a “get well soon” card wishing him a speedy recovery:

Dear Warren,

We heard about your interception of a defensive shark’s lobster dinner, so we wanted to pass along some delicious cruelty-free vegan lobster in the hope that it’s a winner with you and yours. We don’t want you running back to the water until you’ve tasted it—sharks work as a team to obtain food, so unwanted competition may be awaiting you. Despite that nasty bite, it’s humans who rank as the deadliest predator of all. We hope you look after yourself, so we invite you to tackle any health problems with vegan foods and to be a champion of lobsters. All your fans at PETA are wishing you a speedy recovery.

Warm regards,

Andrew Bernstein and the PETA Team

Sharks continue to intrigue and frighten humans. However, humans are the most dangerous predator of the sea. In 2012, sharks killed only 12 humans, whereas humans killed 100 million sharks. Together with countless sea turtles, birds, seals, whales, and other “nontarget” animals, they are caught alongside hundreds of billions of fish in ocean-ravaging nets or are dragged for hours on long-lines set by the commercial-fishing industry.

PETA knows that animals are not ours to eat. We hope that by urging Warren Sapp not to eat them, he won’t get eaten, either.
