The multinational computer technology corporation, Oracle, has expressed keen interest to enter into a partnership with the Himachal Pradesh Government for new technological initiatives.

This was stated by Oracle president Loic Le Guisquet at a meeting with Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and Chief Secretary VC Pharka here today.

The meeting of the company’s representatives was facilitated by Gokul Butail, Advisor (Information Technology) to the Chief Minister. Virbhadra Singh invited suggestions from the company to develop solutions for modernisation of horticulture, agriculture and tourism sectors in the state.

Butail urged the company to set up incubation centres for start-ups in Himachal Pradesh, as the state, he said, had the best climatic environment, ample human resources and surplus power to promote Information Technology industry in the state.

Loic committed to prepare prototypes for mobile application-based solutions for the state with sponsorship from Oracle. Sahilender Kumar, Managing Director, Oracle India; Sunder Ram, vice-president (sales) and and Amit Dabra, director (sales) were also present at the meeting.
