Three police officers were allegedly assaulted while attempting to arrest a woman in central Kitchener.

Waterloo Regional Police say the assaults occurred Thursday afternoon, after they were contacted about a stolen vehicle in the Rockway Gardens area of the city.

A woman sought in connection with the stolen vehicle case was spotted by officers in the area.

According to police, the woman gave police a fake name, then tried to run away, and ended up assaulting the officers.

The woman was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, obstructing police, assaulting police, mischief, drug possession and other offences.

While some police equipment was damaged in the struggle, none of the officers were seriously hurt.
