PIL seeks early opening of Metro's Mantri Mall-Majestic stretch
Bengaluru: The high court on Friday ordered notice to the government and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) in response to a PIL seeking for a direction to start Metro operations on the Mantri Mall-Majestic stretch as early as possible.
The PIL filed by advocate AV Amarnathan cited the respondent's statement to TOI on July 12 that though work is almost complete it won't be opened immediately to avoid spending on ceremonial opening of a small stretch.
Instead, the inauguration will be clubbed with that of the Metro's South corridor, which is expected to be ready only by the year-end.
He said linking of the Mantri Mall-Majestic stretch would largely benefit people from far-off Nagasandra, Peenya, Yeshwantpur to Majestic, apart from helping people like him who have their offices in Rajajinagar and other areas to reach Vidhana Soudha and the high court.
