GREATER NOIDA: In order to attract investment in the three areas of Gautam Budh Nagar—Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway—Uttar Pradesh investment commissioner Amit Mohan Prasad held a meeting of senior officials on Friday at the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).
Prasad reviewed the investment climate in the three areas and detailed several proposals especially for the developing YEIDA area.
The move follows directions of the newly appointed Chairperson of three authorities, Pravir Kumar who has said he will revive industrial development in the three areas to bring in investment.
According to officials, Prasad directed YEIDA officials to focus on providing hassle-free business environment to attract investment. “We have also been directed to woo defense manufacturing units to set up shop in YEIDA area,” said S.P Patel, Deputy CEO, YEIDA. “YEIDA area provides the perfect scenario for developing a hub for warehousing and logistics. We will also soon meet and talk to Public Sector Units to set up their manufacturing units here,” he told TOI.
Considering the land banks in Noida and Greater Noida have more or less been exhausted, Prasad further said that YEIDA could also provide existing industries in Noida and Greater Noida with extension plans. “We have ample land in YEIDA area, which could be gainfully utilized for attracting existing entrepreneurs of Noida and Greater Noida to set up their industries. We will seek such proposals,” Patel said.
The Investment Commissioner plans to hold a meeting every Friday to further review the business situation. “On August 22 next month, all the investment proposals we receive will be reviewed and a workshop will be held for entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs will be asked to make a presentation of their plans,” the DCEO said.
Meanwhile, YEIDA officials also met Bhanu Upadhayay, inspector general of Sashastra Seema Bal (SBSB), a border guarding force, which guards the Indo-Nepal Border, on Friday. “SSB is keen on setting up its headquarters in YEIDA. We have shown them land in sector 17B. They will require about 40 acres of land,” Patel said. “Officials have perused the said land and will soon get back to us with their formal proposal,” he added.
