The Hill’s 12:30 Report — Post-convention edition: Dem winners, losers in Philly | On the floor during Hillary’s speech | Trump hits back at Clinton | New Zika cases came from Florida mosquitoes | National Chicken Wing Day

DEVELOPING THIS A.M. — ZIKA IN THE STATES: Florida officials said Friday that there is a “high likelihood” that the first cases of Zika virus being transmitted by mosquitoes in the continental United States have occurred. What changed: Before now, all of the cases in the U.S. been people who contracted the virus elsewhere and then returned to the mainland. http://bit.ly/2aDKbLm

Happy Friday! Filing from a collectively delirious Amtrak train filled with political nerds — after a not-so-brief stop at the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia for snacks 😉 — I’m Cate Martel with a quick recap of what you missed this morning and what’s on tap for the rest of the day. Send comments, story ideas and upcoming events to cmartel@thehill.com, @CateMartel and on Facebook.

THE QUESTION OF THE MORNING — HOW DID CLINTON’S SPEECH PLAY?: Via The Hill’s Amie Parnes, during Hillary Clinton’s acceptance speech for the presidential nomination, she called on Democrats to unify against Republican nominee Donald Trump. She spent a large part of the speech tearing apart Trump’s positions on everything from the military to his temperament. http://bit.ly/2ahGQVs

Politico’s John Bresnahan
Clinton sitting a kitchen table, talking into the camera very calmly. Compare that to Trump’s image sitting in gaudy Manhattan penthouse http://bit.ly/2aP87ut

The Daily Beast’s Jackie Kucinich
If anyone can sell Hillary Clinton to the broader public it’s Morgan Freeman http://bit.ly/2ahdl6r

Sonny Bunch responded: DNC = Democratic Neocon Convention http://bit.ly/2a4tKtw

CUE TRUMP’S FAVORITE MEDIUM OF ATTACK: Donald Trump attacked Hilary Clinton with a rapid-fire string of tweets moments after her convention speech. He went with a fave talking point: calling Clinton soft on terror. http://bit.ly/2aCBPpT

WELL, AT LEAST YOU CAN SAY THIS CONVENTION WAS MEMORABLE: Democrats swung between triumph and disaster in Philadelphia in four days that saw outstanding speeches and emotional moments, but also some stark displays of disunity.

Winners: Hillary Clinton, President Obama, Bernie Sanders, first lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Biden, stand-up comic and Sanders supporter Sarah Silverman, and CNN.

Mixed: Former President Bill Clinton and vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine.

Losers: Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the ‘Bernie or bust’ backers, Senate candidate Katie McGinty, Philadelphia, convention organizers and the on-site media.

Reasons for each from The Hill’s Niall Stanage: http://bit.ly/2amJ5BK

MOST SHARED — OH, THIS IS QUITE THE PHOTO: Time magazine’s Olivier Laurent captured the happiest photo of Hillary Clinton I’ve ever seen. It’s worth seeing: http://ti.me/2a9mAQ3

{mosads}ANNOUNCED TODAY – THAT HEADACHE ISN’T GOING AWAY YET, BOB: A federal appeals court refused to drop corruption charges against Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.). Menendez’s attorneys had argued that his actions on behalf of a campaign donor were protected because he’s a sitting senator. http://bit.ly/2aws5Lq

T-MINUS SEVEN DAYS: The Rio Olympics begin a week from today! Here’s the latest on how prepared Rio is: http://cnn.it/2anjU20

BEHIND-THE-SCENES IN THE ARENA:

Interruptions — TV vs. in person: Dozens of people wearing neon green pro-Bernie Sanders shirts held signs for Green Party candidate Jill Stein and kept disrupting the show. It felt like they were trying over and over to see if they could rattle Hillary Clinton. Note: The interruptions were MUCH more noticeable in the arena than on TV.

Work. It.: Sen. Charles Schumer (N.Y.) was really working the crowd on the convention floor last night. Lots of people took selfies with him and, according to The Hill’s Sarah Ferris, “he definitely caused a traffic jam.” Apparently one fan tried to say hello and called him “governor.” He then corrected himself after being quietly corrected. Happens to the best of ushttp://bit.ly/2aPTl6s

Social media obstacle course: “Random people walking around Facebook Live-ing themselves was not a convention floor hazard I was prepared for.” (h/t The Hill’s Pete Schroeder) http://bit.ly/2aeJdnT

Tidbit about a speech: “Doug Elmets clearly didn’t write this speech. He’s mispronounced several words: StatuTe instead of statue, peNtupant instead of petulant, etc.” (h/t to The Washington Post’s James Hohmann) http://bit.ly/2aDeLVn

Donor vs. delegate seating: “DNC has reserved seats between delegates and stage inside the buffer for what appear to be donors. Not even RNC does that.” (h/t Time’s Zeke Miller) http://bit.ly/2alIzqm

Not all the screamers were Bernie peeps: “Sitting next to a man who keeps standing up and saying ‘Viva Hillary’ only to be sushed [sic] by his neighbors” (h/t Bloomberg’s Kendall Breitman) http://bit.ly/2aeKCuC

SPOTTED AROUND TOWN:

CNN Washington Bureau Chief Sam Feist, New York Times photographer Doug Mills, CNN’s Nia-Malika Henderson, and “PBS NewsHour” host Judy Woodruff were spotted among the bleary-eyed travelers in Philadelphia hopping aboard an early morning Acela train back to Washington today. (h/t The Hill’s Judy Kurtz)

Republican strategist and Jeb Bush supporter Ana Navarro was seen in the Xfinity Live hub right outside the arena beside the CNN hub.

Voto Latino hosted a “Brave Party” at the Theater of Living Arts. Attendees included: “East Los High” star Tracy Perez; Voto Latino co-founder Rosario Dawson; Rep. Linda Sánchez (Calif.); Labor Council for Latin American AdvancementExecutive Director Hector Sanchez; founder and Chairman of Latino Leaders Network Mickey Ibarra; Jackie Gagne, HBO vice president for multicultural marketing; Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics Alejandra Ceja; President and CEO of Voto Latino Maria Teresa Kumar.

OTHER NOTABLE TWEETS:

Rep. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.)
I feel like I’ve accomplished everything I need in politics. Lance Bass just said to me “Oh, I know who you are.” #thisipromiseyou http://bit.ly/2aC0FX5

Politico’s Seung Min Kim (That’s so awkward!)
OMG. [Sen. Charles] Schumer says there are 13 Schumer marriages, and “three cooking.” That’s so much pressure! http://bit.ly/2ahcLFK

8:30 p.m. EDT: Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine hold a rally in Harrisburg, Pa.

WHAT TO WATCH:

NOW FOR THE FUN STUFF…:

Today is National Chicken Wing Day and National Lasagna Day!

A NICE MOMENT: Via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Greg Bluestein, during this week’s convention, Rep. John Lewis (Ga.) met with Jerry Emmett, the 102-year-old delegate from Arizona. http://on-ajc.com/2aDe7XX

And with that, here are the dance moves I hope to learn this weekend: http://bit.ly/2aCH351
