The Jubilee coalition has proposed the number of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) members to remain at nine and work on a full-time basis.

The coalition said on Friday part-time commissioners would create antagonism and infighting within the commission.

Senior officers should be in office at all times to deal with complaints from parties, to create confidence that their issues are addressed at the top level, it said.

The coalition said political parties should have no role in reconstituting a new team.

Jubilee said it was disappointed that the opposition Cord coalition did not present allegations against the commissioners that would have resulted in a tribunal being formed to investigate them.

Jubilee was presenting its views to the select panel on IEBC reforms in Nairobi.
