The Vasai Road railway police on Thursday took action against four women for allegedly abusing and insulting a 20-year-old student who was on her way to college on Tuesday. One of the arrested women works as a clerk in the Mumbai sessions court.

According to the police, complainant Rutuja Naik is pursing engineering in Vartak College in Vasai. On Tuesday, she was travelling on the 8.40am Virar local. "When she was standing on the gangway of the compartment, four unknown women approached her and started harassing her. They hurled abuses at her and then assaulted her," said a police officer.
Naik lodged a complaint in this regard with Vasai Road railway police on Wednesday where the police registered a non-cognisable complaint.
