Kangra, July 28
Activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) today protested against the apathetic attitude of the state government towards the maintenance of the Shahpur Civil Hospital.
The protesters said the hospital was short of doctors and paramedical staff. They said there were no Class IV employees, adding that the government was doing nothing to fill the vacant posts. BJYM district secretary Karnik Padha said on July 8, they had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister stating that if the posts were not filled within 15 days, they would go on indefinite fast.
The protesters said the hospital did not have basic facilities. They said four posts of doctor were vacant and recently a lady doctor proceeded on leave. Poor infrastructure and unhygienic conditions annoyed patients. Four posts of nurse are yet to be filled. Block Medical Officer Dr Sushil Sharma said they had raised the issue with the higher authorities. — OC
