LUCKNOW: Two sub-inspectors clashed publicly near VVIP Guest House on MG Marg on Thursday morning following a scuffle over jumping a traffic signal. Posted at cyber cell in Kanpur, sub-inspector Shiv Prasad Dubey was heading to Jawahar Bhawan to participate in a training session on cyber forensics.
Dubey, who was driving a car, had crossed the railway overbridge in Cantt while heading towards Lal Batti crossing.
Traffic sub-inspector Krishna Murari and three others were present on the stretch. The movement of an ambulance carrying a liver from KGMU to the airport was scheduled on the stretch at the same time and all motorists had been directed to wait. However, as Dubey was in a hurry, he went on. His vehicle was intercepted and bitter a scuffle broke out between the two sides on the road. Dubey sustained severe injuries on his face and head.
"I tried explaining the situation to them, but they were in no mood to listen," said Dubey. The other side alleged that Dubey had trained his service revolver at them. Senior officials were informed and Both sides reached Gautampalli police station. Officer in charge of Gautampalli police station, sub-inspector S K Katiyar, said cross FIRs had been lodged.
"Dubey has been booked for attacking on-duty government servant while Murari and others have been made accused in the second case lodged by Dubey," said Katiyar. SSP Manzil Saini directed additional superintendent of city's traffic police to carry out an inquiry into the matter and frame charges.
