Haryana government would soon set up a separate department for welfare of ex-servicemen in the state.
This assurance was given by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar during a live Twitter session here today where he replied to people’s queries on various issues.
On a complaint of hike in fees by a private school in Faridabad by more than 100 per cent in the last two years, he said that he would take up the matter with Divisional Commissioner D Suresh and told the complainant to contact him on his mobile number.
“The government is considering an amendment in rules to obviate such abrupt and hefty hikes,” the Chief Minister said.
To a tweet regarding start of work on Hansi-Meham-Rohtak railway line, Khattar said, “We were also misled into believing that the previous government had paid the money for this project. But it was not correct. We have now paid over Rs 300 crore and acquisition of land will start soon.”

Regarding the “declining” status of Kuruksehtra University, he said a committee had been set up to improve the academic standards of all universities in the state and the report is expected in three-four months.
To a query on commencement of Smart Grid Project in Gurgaon, the Chief Minister said the first phase would be completed in one year.
“I have issued instructions to reduce the period of the second phase of three years to two years,” he added.
On the quantum of compensation given to farmers in the last two years, Khattar said more than Rs 2,300 crore has been paid to farmers.
He said 3,235 appointment letters have been issued for various posts. Besides, Haryana Staff Selection Commission has already announced written examination for 9,000 posts in the Education Department and 7,000 posts in other departments.
Physical tests of more than three lakh candidates for 5,000 posts of police constables have also been completed.
On another tweet asking how serious the state government is about promotion of indigenous cows and buffaloes, Khattar replied, “Why don’t you ask our political opponents who often accuse us of being too serious on this issue?”
