Outstation players registered with the TNCA, such as Piyush Chawla and Hardik Pandya, will not be a part of the Tamil Nadu Premier League’s inaugural draft to be held here on Saturday.
The TNCA had written to the BCCI, explaining its position and seeking clarity on the issue. It reasoned that the players registered for its other tournaments were eligible for the TNPL.
But with the BCCI yet to respond, the draft will proceed without these players. “The teams can pick up to 19 players on Saturday and can fill the remaining two slots with the outstation players once the confirmation comes from the BCCI,” TNCA secretary K.S Viswanathan told The Hindu .
Nearly 900 players will be part of the draft and the teams have to select at least two under-19 players and two players from the districts in their squads.
The tournament will commence on August 27 and be held at three venues, Chennai, Dindigul (Natham) and Tirunelveli, with the final to be played on September 18 in Chennai.
