BSF, Pak Rangers conclude meeting in Lahore

New Delhi, Jul 28 (UNI) The Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers today concluded their three-day meeting in Lahore, at which they reached a consensus that since the last such meeting in Delhi in September 2015, there has been greater adherence to the ceasefire along the International Border. The DG, BSF stressed the importance of vigilance against cross-border infiltration to prevent terrorist activities and check smuggling in narcotics. Both sides discussed ways to strengthen measures to coordinate border patrolling on their respective sides of the border and address each other's concerns in a time-bound manner, ’ Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said here. The BSF delegation was led by its Director General K K Sharma, while the Pakistan delegation was led by Director General, Pakistan Rangers (Punjab), Major General Umar Farooq Burki. ''The meeting was held in a cordial and cooperative atmosphere. Consensus was reached that since the last such meeting in Delhi in September 2015, there has been greater adherence to the ceasefire along the International Border,'' Mr Swarup said. The DG, BSF invited the DG, Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) to visit India for the next round of these bi-annual talks. The invitation was accepted, Mr Swarup added. UNI NAZ RJ 2135
