BJP trying to communalise Dayashankar Singh issue

BJP trying to communalise Dayashankar Singh issue
Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati.
LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Thursday attacked the BJP saying that the saffron brigade was trying to communalize the Dayashankar Singh episode by targeting BSP leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui.
Mayawati said that while the FIR against BSP contained the names of many other leaders only Siddiqui, a Muslim, was being targeted. "This only reeks of BJP's communal agenda to gain political mileage,'' she said in a statement.
Mayawati categorically defended her leaders, including Siddiqui, saying that they did not said anything `as objectionable as the said by Singh'.
The BSP boss reiterated her stand that the Samajwadi Party government was not arresting Singh since it had covert understanding with the BJP. "That is why the state police is only conducting false raids in the name of arresting Singh. He is otherwise being comfortably interviewed by the media and seen visiting places in Jharkhand,'' Mayawati said. This is the second time within four days that Mayawati has alleged the SP of being hand in glove over Singh's issue.
Mayawati said the agitation by BJP's women wing in favour of Dayashankar's wife and daughter was aimed to give political advantage to BJP. "This is without knowing the fact that the slogans raised against Singh and his family were not derogatory,'' she said.
