Incessant rain affects domestic flights

KATHMANDU: Domestic flights in the country have been affected by the incessant rainfall in the past few days.

The rain has encumbered flights in the mountainous and hilly regions. However, the international flights are being operated unaffected.

According to the Tribhuvan International Airport, the bad weather has mostly affected the flights to airports in the eastern and western hilly regions.

The TIA General Manager, Devananda Upadhyay, said flights to Solukhumbu, Bhojpur, Taplejung and other destinations of the hilly region have been affected.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Forecasting Division has stated that the visibility in other places except the eastern hilly region is good and there is no problem in operating the flights.

Meteorologist Subas Rimal said, "There might be some problems in operating flights to Taplejung, Okhaldhunga among other places in the east as these places are witnessing cloudy condition with thick fog."

He added, "The weather is normal in other regions."

Eight airline companies serve flights in the domestic aviation sector while 26 serve the international one.
