Bandra Dude Makes Indian Gaming History, Rams Mercedes Into Auto Playing Pokemon Go On The Road

It was Jabbir Ali's first time playing the phenomenon known as Pokemon GO - little did he know that his crash into an autorickshaw would go down in desi gaming history as India's first Pokemon Go induced crash.

En route his Carter Road home from Bandra Bandstand,  Jabbir decided to try out the game his brother Adil was playing

"He was constantly playing Pokemon Go, so intrigued, I took the phone from him to understand the game. While he was explaining the rules to me, an autorickshaw rammed into my car and sped away." Damages cost him Rs 15,000-20,000 in repairs  - we aren't even sure if he scored some Pokemons on the crash site. Jabbir now plans to be a 'Don't Pokemon and Drive' voice of awareness – and the Mumbai police better rope him in. 

After all, Mumbai's streets are not meant for hunting, unless you are Salman Khan.

Which is why Mumbai police, understanding the city's latest obsession of hunting Pokemon and other pocket sized monsters, has warned locals about how risky it can be. The @MumbaiPolice released a series of on-point tweets talking about the dangers of being distracted by the immersive augmented reality game on city roads.

The Hindu reported that PokémonGo hunting has become so obsessive that Shiv Sena members party demanded regulations upon the game, due to recent road mishaps. “In Indonesia, a boy while chasing Pokeman entered an army base. In Guatemala, two children had to face firing from unknown locations while chasing Pokemon. In Arizona, a college has given special instruction to students against playing Pokemon,” Sena leader Neelam Ghore said, adding that PokemonGo is already banned in 22 countries.
