Narsingh Yadav controversy: FIR filed against Chhatarsal wrestler Jitesh

Haryana police on Wednesday registered a criminal case against a wrestler Jitesh and others on charges of “criminal conspiracy” and “causing hurt by means of poison” on the complaint lodged by wrestler Narsingh Yadav. The FIR no. 261, was registered under Sections 328 and 120-B of Indian Penal Code at Rai police station in Sonepat district of Haryana.

According to Haryana police, Narsingh Yadav reached Rai police station in the wee hours on Wednesday and submitted a written complaint at about 1 am. Based on his complaint, the Sonepat district police sought a legal opinion from the Additional District Attorney and registered the FIR this afternoon.

“Since Narsingh Yadav had given us a written complaint, we examined it, got a legal opinion on it from our ADA and then registered the case under the relevant provisions of law. As per his complaint, Narsingh had accused a fellow wrestler Jitesh who practices in Chhatarsal stadium in New Delhi for mixing something in his food supplements. Narsingh had also alleged that certain influential people were also involved in this conspiracy, although he did not give any more names. Further investigations are on,” said Hardeep Singh Doon, Superintendent of Police, Sonepat.

Section 328 of IPC reads, “Causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence – whoever administers to any person any poison or any stupefying, intoxicating or unwholesome drug, or other thing with intent to cause hurt to such person, or with intent to commit or to facilitate the commission of an offence or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby cause hurt, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine”.

No arrests were, however, made till the filing of this report. Police sources disclosed that Narsingh, in his complaint, had quoted an incident of alleged mixing of something suspicious in his food about one and a half month ago. “Narsingh’s complaint forms basis of the FIR. We are investigating the instances quoted by him in his complaint. The role of certain influential people about whom he has raised suspicion shall also be verified. We shall be questioning Narsingh also in detail and then further investigate the case accordingly,” another senior Haryana police officer added.
