Albury's new mosque triggers new and local interfaith initiative

Just a year ago, and 3 hours drive away, Bendigo faced major problems over a proposed mosque.

Albury faces a similar challenge now. Both towns have small but growing Muslim communities. Both have mosque projects approved.

Some of Albury’s religious leaders and concerned citizens say they've learned from the Bendigo experience. Anglicans, Jews, Uniting Church members, Catholics, Muslims, Bahai's, Buddhists, Hindus, local politicians and interested civic and educational leaders have met together this week. They say they're determined to understand, support and encourage religious and cultural diversity in their city.
