BANNU: At least six people were killed and 76 others injured in various incidents of traffic mishaps, aerial firing and armed clashes on the eve of Eidul Fitr in the district, local and official sources said on Friday. A motorcyclist Sakhi Margul, a resident of Kalakhel Masti Khan, died on the spot when he was hit by a tri-wheeler coming from the opposite side on Bannu-Dera Ismail Khan Road. Similarly, in the limits of Ghoriwala Police Station a pickup mini truck ran over a motorcycle killing one Faizan instantly while injuring Asifullah and Zafarullah. Separately, 46-year-old Akhtar Jan was killed by unidentified armed men at his house in Shoi area of Bakkakhel in Frontier Region Bannu. In another incident one Gul Zaman was shot injured by a rival group in the limits of Kakki Police Station. Police registered cases against accused Umar Gul, Ayaz, Ali and Rukh Niaz. According to the police the motive behind the shooting was said to be an old enmity. Some of those who sustained injuries in various traffic accidents were identified as Tahir, Hameedullah, Momin, Pervez, Muhammad Wali, Sonia Akhtar, Roohniaza and Tayyeba. At least 13 persons including a 60-year-old woman and four minors were injured due to aerial firing the night before Eidul Fitr on the eve of moon sighting. The injured were identified as Yasir Ahmad, Nazarkhela Bibi, Sanu Bibi, nine-year-old Aziz and Musawwir Khan, Pirdad Khan, Inamullah, five-year-old Hashmat Ali and Attia Jabeen. The wounded were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu for medical care. In another fateful incident of firing armed men killed two persons Yasir Khan and Abid Ali just after Eid prayers in Malik Shahi Naurang area in Janikhel. When a relative complained, police registered a case against Suleman and Razaullah, sons of Akbar Khan. In a separate incident unknown gunmen killed one Sanaullah in the limits of Basiakhel Police Station. Police registered a case against unknown accused and started an investigation.
