The betting racket was busted in Bhajanpura area in August last year and 10 persons were arrested.

“Yadav was booked under MCOCA after two of the arrested accused, identified as Roshan Lal Verma, a rickshaw puller and Amarnath Bajaj, who runs a tea shop at Kashmere Gate, told the police that the gambling syndicate in Delhi, NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and UP was being run by the former MP from inside the jail. Talking about the modus operandi, then DCP (north-east), Venu Bansal, said: “The syndicate allegedly worked with the help of a computer software and the clients used to place bets on random numbers. The winner was promised 90 times the value of his bet. The syndicate worked in three shifts of eight hours every day and there used to be one winner in every shift. The syndicate was operating out of a rented building in an isolated spot in Bhajanpura in the garb of a call centre”.
