Activists of the Uttarakhand Parivartan Party (UPP) held a protest rally in support of their demands here today.
They criticised the Congress-led state government for quashing beneficiary schemes and allowances for reserved category people.
The protesters, led by party spokesperson Bhargav Chandola, gathered at the Raipur bus stand and held a protest rally. They also burnt an effigy of the state government at Lansdowne Chowk.
The UPP activists lamented that the government had stopped funds for the beneficiary schemes launched for the reserved category people. The government had done nothing to generate employment in the state. Also, migration of skilled unemployed youths had increased manifold over a couple of years.
The protesters demanded that the government fill vacant posts in various government departments.
Kuldeep Madhwal, Gyanveer Tyagi, Giridhar Shah, Hari Shah, Pujari Chauhan and Preetam Singh Rawat took part in the protest.
