Daddy Yankee earns Streaming Gainer honors on the Hot Latin Songs chart as “Shaky Shaky” soars 90 percent in streams (to 1.3 million weekly clicks in the tracking week ending July 21, according to Nielsen Music), following the release of the track’s dance driven music video on July 14. YouTube claims 70 percent of the overall streams during the most recent tracking week. “Shaky” shimmies 10-6, reaching a new peak on the Aug. 6 dated chart, also aided by a 17 percent rise in sales (to 3,000) downloads.
The reggaeton veteran encouraged his fans to share their own videos, dancing to the track, using the hashtag #ShakyChallenge. Many videos were compiled and made into dance-off videos with the creators competing with each other in a split screen series uploaded on Yankee’s YouTube channel.
The track, released under Yankee’s own El Cartel Records label, spent one week on Billboard’s Twitter Top Tracks chart (July 30 chart), becoming his first song to arrive on the two-year-old chart as a lead (he spent one week on the list earlier this year as a featured act on Chino & Nacho’s “Andas En Mi Cabeza”).
“Shaky” is Yankee’s 20th top 10 hit on Hot Latin Songs. His first came in 2005 when his smash “Lo Que Paso, Paso” reached No. 2.
Elsewhere on Hot Latin Songs, he remains at No. 8 with “Andas En Mi Cabeza,” while dipping one spot (30-31) with Cosculluela’s “A Donde Voy” (where Yankee is featured), and slips 35-38 with “Not A Crime (No Es Ilegal) with Play-N-Skillz.
Siggno Shines: Regional Mexican act Siggno earns its first No. 1 on Top Latin Albums with the group’s 10th charting set, Yo Te Esperare, selling 5,000 copies in the week ending July 21. The set follows Zodiacal, which arrived at No. 2 in 2015.
Esperare includes a cover of Nicky Jam and Enrique Iglesias’ former No. 1 Hot Laing Songs hit “El Perdon,” which debuts at No. 8 on the Regional Mexican Digital Songs chart.
Siggno first reached the Top Latin Albums chart back on July 5, 2008, with Six Pack, which peaked at No. 44. The act eventually hit the top 10 in 2012 with the No. 8-peaking 25 Grandes Exitos, and has seen each of its subsequent four albums reach a higher peak, culminating with the new No. 1 bow.
Sanz & Anthony Team Up: Following the premiere performance of Alejandro Sanz’s “Deja Que Te Bese,” featuring Marc Anthony, on the Premios Juventud awards show (broadcast live by Univision on July 14), the track takes the Hot Shot Debut on Hot Latin Songs, arriving at No. 23. The track’s bow is about evenly powered by sales (3,000 downloads sold for the week), streams and airplay.
