Cranes captain Massa seals deal to join Baroka

Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic has consistently emphasized the importance of the national team’s players securing playing time at their respective clubs ahead of September’s Afcon qualifying fixture against Comoros.
One such player who found himself in such a predicament was Geoffrey Massa after he struggled for playing time last season.
The Cranes captain finally concluded his much anticipated move to Baroka from fellow South African topflight league club Bloemfontein Celtic yesterday.
“I’m looking more for hungry players. Massa is a hungry player when you compare him to other strikers. Now it’s time for him to prove that he can play because he wasn’t playing regularly at Celtic,” Baroka CEO Morgan Mamilla told KickOff.com. “He said he wants to play and remember he is a captain of a national team.”
Massa becomes the club’s 15th signing after they were promoted as National First Division champions.
“All the players are looking up to him. So it is a challenge for him but I think he will do well,” added Mamilla.
The striker endured a torrid one season at Celtics, playing eight games (seven league starts, five as a substitute) and scoring two goals since signing a three-year contract with the club in May last year.
The former Mbale Heroes and Police striker, however, boasts of considerable experience having previously featured for Jomo Cosmos and University of Pretoria.
