Robert Guerrero has set his sights on a rematch with WBC world welterweight champion Danny Garcia.

'The Ghost' lost their vacant title fight on points in Los Angeles, in January, the last time either man stepped into the ring.

Guerrero (33-4-1-KO18) returns to action against David Emanuel Peralta (25-2-1-KO14) at the end of August and the two-weight world champion made it clear he sees it as a warm-up for bigger challenges.

"I want to get back in there with the top guys," he said.

"All the fights are there. I have to get back in that position. I have to get them to stand toe-to-toe with me.

"I don't need to prove anything to myself. I know I can fight. I come in and work hard every day. I have to go and prove it to the fans. The fans are what makes us. I have to prove it to everybody watching that I'm there at the top level.

"We definitely want a rematch with Danny Garcia. If I don't get that, it's anyone at 147 pounds. The guys are all there and I'm ready to battle."

The unanimous points loss against the unbeaten Garcia (32-0-KO18) followed a points defeat to WBA World holder Keith Thurman in March 2015.

Guerrero's first world welterweight challenge against Floyd Mayweather in May 2013 also ended in a unanimous points loss.

Garcia has not boxed in the last six months but has been strongly linked with facing Manny Pacquiao later this year, after Bob Arum drew up a shortlist and trainer Freddie Roach ruled out the Filipino fighter facing Terence Crawford.
