Italian car maker Lamborghini launched Aventador, the mid-engined sports car in Feburary 2011 as the successor of then-decade-old Murcielago. The flagship model of Sant'Agata Bolognese based car maker is reportedly heading for a mid-life facelift.

Being a facelift, the new Aventador is not expected to receive major changes. The face of the sports car is expected to get some tweaks that will generate more downforce. The front bumper will be reworked to attain this. At the rear, the car is set to get a new rear wing again to improve more downforce.

The 6,498cc V12 engine in Aventador now develops 691bhp and 690Nm of torque and power is transmitted to all four wheels via 7 speed ISR transmission. The sports car needs just 2.9 seconds to reach 0-100kmph before reaching top speed 350kmph. These figures are expected to go up in the new Aventador.

The facelifted version of the Aventador which is expected in 2017 will be the last Lamborghini series to be powered by the unassisted V12 engine. The company has already divulged its plan to move to hybrid powertrains for it future cars. However, Lamborghini will stick to the naturally aspirated engine. The successor of the Aventador is expected in 2020 or 2021 and it will be offered only in hybrid powertrain.
