District badminton: Natasha & Kareena in quarters

Natasha overcame Matunga Gymkhana's Anaghaa Chakrapani 15-21, 21-15, 21-11 while top seeded Kareena had an easy outing as she outplayed Sayali Dabholkar 21-6, 21-6.

MUMBAI: Cricket Club of India's (CCI) Natasha Daswani and Kareena Madan registered wins to enter the women's quarter-finals in the Greater Mumbai district badminton championship. Natasha overcame Matunga Gymkhana's Anaghaa Chakrapani 15-21, 21-15, 21-11 while top seeded Kareena had an easy outing as she outplayed Sayali Dabholkar 21-6, 21-6. Riya Arolkar beat Samiaa Shah 22-20, 21-19, while Madhumita Kandalgaonkar and Arundhati Sabban dominated their respective matches to progress to the quarter-finals.
In the boys u-10 group, Omkar Kshirsagar and Arnav Kumar secured comfortable wins while, Parth Lele won a close match to advance to the quarter-finals.
Tushar lifts Tigers to top
Tushar Poojary's doubles strikes powered Ruthless-Tigers FC to a narrow 2-1win over from Remackyn SA in a concluding and seventh round league match of the inaugural Borivli Premier Football League (BPFL). Denny John put Remackyn in the lead. But Tigers fought back strongly and Tushar fired home two goals to seal the win. Tushar for his fine efforts was rightly rewarded with the 'Big Boss Player of the match' award.
