Aditya Agarwal (VP, engineering, Dropbox) and Ruchi Sanghvi (former VP, operations, Dropbox) have been partners in life and business. Last week, the young techie couple announced a new chapter of their relationship.
In a Facebook post, Sanghvi shared that she is expecting her first child in October, alongside a photo of the parents-to-be. “We have been on many adventures together — from our days in college, to starting a company (Cove), to having a stratospheric rocketship ride at Facebook and Dropbox. These have been special experiences but this feels like the craziest one yet,” she wrote.

It hasn’t been an easy journey for Sanghvi and her husband. “We’ve been trying to have a child for a couple of years now. We had a miscarriage, tried IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) and ultimately conceived via IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation). It was a difficult and emotional time,” she said.

Although hesitant at first, the couple decided to share their troubles in public to “give other couples hope, encourage them to seek out help, talk more openly and lean on friends, family and each other”.

Exactly a year ago, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, a close friend of the couple, revealed that he was to become a dad in a post. In his note, he also shared that his wife suffered multiple miscarriages. Like Sanghvi, he felt the need to support couples who face similar troubles. “In today’s open and connected world, discussing these issues doesn't distance us; it brings us together. It creates understanding and tolerance, and it gives us hope,” Zuckerberg wrote.
