Volunteers of the All India Youth Federation (AIYF) owing allegiance to the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Tuesday staged a novel protest by conducting an ear piercing ceremony of children in front of a community hall in Subbiah Nagar. They were protesting against the delay in opening a newly built community hall for public use.

Yet to be opened

The volunteers claimed that the community hall constructed four years ago to host weddings and birthday celebrations was yet to be thrown open to the public. Repeated representations were made to the authorities concerned failed to evoke any response.

The workers conducted ear piercing ceremony of a few children in front of the premises to draw the attention of the authorities to open the community hall. The agitators claimed that the primary aim of the community halls constructed by the administration is to cater to all sections of society.
