Tagore, Meerabai House lift Hindi debate trophy

MUSSOORIE: Tagore House in the boys’ section and Meerabai House in the girls’ section emerged victorious in the inter-house Hindi debate contest held at Oak Grove School here today.

Tagore House in the boys’ section and Meerabai House in the girls’ section emerged victorious in the inter-house Hindi debate contest held at Oak Grove School here today.

The topic of the discussion for the senior division was ‘Social Media Ashanti Ko Badhawa De Rahi Hai’ and for junior division ‘Plastic Vardan Hai’. Piyush Kumar Jha of the Patel House was declared the best debater of the evening while Harsh of Tagore House stood second in the senior division. Uttam Kumar of Tagore House was declared the best debater in the junior division.

In girls’ section (senior division), Kritika Sonali stood first while Pragaya and Ayushi Ojha came second and third respectively. In junior division Riddhi Ritika and Sakshi secured the first and second position, respectively.

JP Pandey, Principal, Oak Grove School, said debate gives students a platform to express what they feel. Pandey said it was very heartening to see that the teams were well prepared and used various skills like overstatement, definition, irony etc. to convince the audience. Tanuja Joshi, Headmistress, Oak Grove Girls School, said the debate was an effective means to develop right communication skills among students. — TNS
