Just over six months after Congress’ former minister Malti Thapar lodged an FIR against party’s Moga district president Darshan Singh Brar and his son Kamaljeet Singh Brar, the matter has ended in a compromise.

Thapar had alleged use of derogatory and unparliamentarily language on December 19 last year, when Congress leaders were protesting against the BJP over the National Herald issue in Moga.

The developments before the Bench of Justice Ritu Bahri took place after a petition was filed for quashing the FIR registered at the Moga city police station on December 21, 2015, under Sections 354A, 509 and 34 of the IPC.

The court was told that the matter was resolved between the petitioner and respondent — Dr Malti Thapar — vide a compromise deed.

Taking up the matter, the court observed that the parties got their statements recorded before the trial court.

A report from the Moga Chief Judicial Magistrate said Thapar and accused - Kamaljit Singh and Darshan Singh Brar - appeared before the court on May 31 for getting their statements recorded in support of the compromise.

Taking a note of the report, Justice Bahri quashed the FIR, along with all consequential proceedings qua the petitioners.
