The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to extend its scheme for below poverty line (BPL) families on financial assistance for medical treatment against serious illness and ailment to those earning till Rs three lakh per annum.
“The civic administration had proposed providing financial assistance of a certain amount for treatment of serious ailments. The benefit was restricted for BPL families but the committee decided to extend it to those earning till Rs three lakh per annum,” said Balasaheb Bodke, chairperson of the standing committee.
As per the proposal, kidney transplant would be allotted Rs 25,000, cancer treatment Rs 50,000, treatment for heart ailment Rs 30,000, angioplasty Rs 15,000 and eye surgery Rs 35,000.
