LUCKNOW: Tuesday’s public rally of Bihar chief minister and JD-U chief Nitish Kumar had its share of lighter moments as well. Making his point, Nitish said, “After a lot of struggle (jaddo-jahad), I got the opportunity to visit this historic place. Everything was in place and okay till yesterday morning. It was only in the afternoon that I came to know (in Patna) that permission for the event has not been granted.
Till late night, the situation remained ambiguous.” He further stated that by this time, he had already made up his mind of visiting Lucknow. “If the administration allows me to go ahead with my programe at Bijli Pasi Quila, I will go, else I would visit the venue, once the programme is over. By that time, I was informed that the permission has been granted,” Nitish asserted amidst a round of applause from the audience.
The JD-U chief also took a jibe at BSP chief Mayawati, when he referred to an incident pertaining to BS4 chief RK Chaudhary, in which his supporters also hailed him along with Mayawati and Kanshiram. “There is nothing wrong if party workers shouted zindabaad slogans in favour of someone,” Nitish said, thereby generating an instant response from the audience, which smiled and grinned.
On the initial denial of permission by the Lucknow district administration citing threat by snakes and scorpions, Nitish said, “If snakes come out, let them come out. Has anyone in the audience seen or spotted a snake so far in the venue? A snake would retaliate only if you attack it or tease it.”
Tuesday’s programme of the Bihar CM saw comparatively less crowd than his earlier programme, which was held in May at Ravindralaya. “Unlike the programme organized by Kisan Manch (in May this year), this programme did not evince much response from the public primarily owing to the location of the venue and last moment uncertainty,” said Himanshu Varma, a resident of Aliganj, who virtually faced very less traffic congestion around Bijli Pasi Quila.
Meanwhile, BS4 chief RK Chaudhary a major goof-up in course of his speech. Firstly he termed Nitish Kumar as the chief minister of UP. He then claimed that he has deployed at least 10 snake catchers from nearby villages inside the Quila to get hold of snakes (if any).
