Kellie Maloney doesn't believe Caitlyn Jenner has done enough to represent transgender people since becoming an ambassador for the LGBT community. Speaking to IBTimes UK, the former Celebrity Big Brother contestant insisted had she been given the same platform as the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, she would have gone down a different route.

"I think everyone's journey is different. We all have a different way of dealing with things," she said. " I get the impression with Caitlyn Jenner that she's in competition with the Kardashian ladies, and I think that's where she's making the mistake, she should be herself."

Maloney, who steered Lennox Lewis to victory under the name of Frank, completed her transition in April 2015. She recalls being left shocked over stories that Jenner allegedly handpicked the women she travelled with in her reality show, I Am Cait.

"They had to go through auditions. So she picked the best instead of picking down to earth people," she said. "People say to me that I'm the Caitlin Jenner of the UK and I go 'well no. Caitlyn Jenner lives her life in an aquarium, Kellie Maloney lives her life in a goldfish bowl.'"

Maloney also insisted that her reasons for participating in reality shows had nothing to do with personal gain : "All these TV programmes, I try to use them to educate people the most I can."

Having lent her voice to a number of campaigns and attended schools to give talks about her journey, she is hoping her work will contribute to transgender individuals being accepted by society.

"I believe the transgender movement is where the gay community was ten years ago, so maybe in 10 years to come, transsexuals will be excepted," she said.

Ahead of the new series of Celebrity Big Brother, Maloney explained that she would never return to Channel 5 reality show, as she would prefer people to get to know the real her. "The day I left the Big Brother house is the day Frank Maloney was buried."
