ABVP calls for strike in Telangana demanding new education reforms

The Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has called for a state-wide bandh in Telangana on Tuesday, demanding the immediate restructuring of schools and education in the state, reported The Hans India.

The Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has called for a state-wide bandh in Telangana on Tuesday, demanding the immediate restructuring of schools and education in the state, reported The Hans India .

An ABVP leader, Srikanth, from Jadcherla, said that this bandh is to make sure that the state government will implement its promise of providing cost-free education to students from kindergarten to post-graduation, the report added.

The organisation, writes PressKS.com , is strongly opposed to the tuition fees charged by private institutions for professional courses, and also demands the the government should enable reimbursement of fees for certain category of students.

The ABVP also demanded an investigation over the deaths of children in private schools and to take action against the school management for the same, reported The Hans India.

Another demand by the organisation, according to PressKS.com is that the state should provide drinking water, toilet facilities, scholarships, financial aid and immediately recruit vice-chancellors at Telangana Universities.

Earlier this month, on 5 July, ABVP activists staged a dharna at the Telangana State Council of Higher Education demanding it withdraw the proposed hike of Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 in engineering fees in colleges, reported The Hindu .
