AHMEDABAD: The makers of Gujarati film , 'Salagto Sawaal Anamat' (Burning Question of Reservation) have now approached Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) denied certificate to the film.
Rajesh Gohil, director of the Gujarati movie, said that they have approached Delhi-based FCAT on July 22 after CBFC denied them certificate.
"I will fight for my film and for the freedom of creativity. I hope that we will get justice from FCAT," Gohil added.
CBFC in June had suggested 100 cuts and had questioned the motive of the film-makers in choosing the emotive theme. And raised concerns over the protagonist's resemblance to Patel quota activist Hardik Patel. Later, the Pahlaj Nihlani-led board denied certificate to the film stating that the film may prove threat to national security and integrity.
Gohil said that the CBFC had suggested 100 cuts which included removal of the word 'Patidar' or 'Patel' from each and every scene. The board even said that content was evocative. The film-makers were also asked to remove references to B R Ambedkar.
Gohil said that if they had edited the film the way the CBFC wanted then the length of film would have been reduced to 80 minutes from the current 150 minutes. "This is an injustice done to a Gujarati film and the board has hurt 'Gujarati Asmita'," Gohil said.
